Rick Paris was born in 1955 and raised in Queens, New York where he lived in a garden apartment in Floral Park with two older brothers and loving parents. His love of photography started at a very young age and his parents let he and another brother set up a black and white darkroom. After the unexpected death, of his father in 1968, Rick continued to move forward and completed an automotive engineering program from SUNNY Farmingdale in Long Island, New York before moving up to Westchester County in 1990. He always moved forward with his photography starting with a Nikon F and finally moving up to the Nikon F5. I moved to Montana in May 2005 so I could continue and expand my love “photography”. Montana seems to be a perfect base for this. Between the wonderful nature opportunities, the landscapes which are breath taken and the people are just plain wonderful to photograph. The people offer a diverse mixture of old and new with a great zest for life that I haven’t encountered elsewhere.
Although Rick grew up as a city boy he always had an attraction to animals and wildlife. Rick fulfilled this desire by watching TV shows such as Discovery, National Geographic and Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom or any other animal related programming he could find as well as researching animal journals. He also began his own passion of breeding German Shepherd dogs back in the late 1980’s and has started all over again with two beautiful pure breed black German Shepherds from Slovakia. As Rick puts it “it’s the closest thing I could find to a real wolf”.
Although Rick graduated with an engineering degree, his love and respect of nature and wildlife soon took over. Owning, as a partner, his own motion picture film studio in New York, "Paris Film Productions" for the past 30 years, it has allowed him to travel extensively and personally photograph all the wildlife, people and landscapes he admired on television for so many years.
Rick has his own website to encompass this latest passion of digital photography – Rick Paris Professional Photographer.. Here he will list all his latest works and pricing. Currently, you can contact him by e-mail at Rick Paris -Rp Total Photography
Rick’s photography reflects the respect he has for these wonderful animals and our environment. He is
currently involved in many organizations dealing with the education of the public in regards to the myths and rumors of animals. Although his focus was mainly on eagles and wolves his portfolio is ever expanding to include many birds, animals, scenic shots, people, events, weddings, kids and pet photography. Being a artist, Rick just sees the beauty of mother nature is many different realms. His knowledge of Photoshop also has allowed him to make “compound” shots. A person who was inside a house now is sitting at a beautiful river in Montana for example. It’s plain fun.
Rick was a member of the Bedford Audubon Society for 2 years and you can also see some of his works on their website at Bedford Audubon Society “Without all the help from the membership, the great field and weekend trips, I don’t think I would have been able to go this far with my work. The learning is fun and you’re with other very concerned people, people who truly care about nature. I was on the board of the Bedford Audubon. Since coming to Montana, I joined the Five Valleys Audubon. Their website is Five Valleys Audubon Society . My daughter who is now 5 has been going with me on field trips for about 2 years now. The Audubon group is for any age from 3 up. I also volunteered at the N.Y.Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem. You can check them out at The Wolf Conservation Center Website!
I find it amazing that I have been in Alaska 3 times filming Bald Eagles and other wildlife and never saw a wolf there, but yet no more than 10 minutes from where I used to live are four beautiful ambassador wolves, Apache, Lukas, Kaila and Atka.” The NY Wolf center now partakes in active breeding of endangered wolves
Such as the red wolf. I have also here in Montana, be lucky enough to meet people and go out with such as Denver Holt, one the worlds renowned Owl experts. My snowy owl pictures are because of Denver. You can check out his website at Ninepipes Center for Wildlife Research and Education.
